December days!

Wow! Time is flying in ~ here are a few of our interesting events that have happened so far in December! We were invited to join a special event organised as a Sporan resource for 1+2 languages. We were able to watch the very powerful Fèisean nan Gàidhleal 2020 film, Eliza. It told the story of Eliza Junor, a descendant of slaves, who travelled with her Scottish father from a woodcutting plantation in Guyana to Fortrose. She remained in the UK and died in Fortrose in 1861. We then took part in a workshop and learnt more about the true life story, the making of the film and a few words in Gaelic. It was an interesting stimulus for discussion about history, slavery, racism, children’s rights and equity.
